#BRUCE FAULCONER DRAGON BALL Z OST FULL#Dragon Ball Z was now in full production in the U.S. However, they could no longer afford the services of either the Ocean voice cast or Shuki Levy's music without Saban's financial assistance, resulting in the creation of their own in-house ADR studio and a new musical score composed by Bruce Faulconer. #BRUCE FAULCONER DRAGON BALL Z OST SERIES#With new success, Funimation continued production on the series by themselves, now with less editing due to fewer restrictions on cable programing. On August 31, 1998, however, these cancelled dubbed episodes began airing on Cartoon Network's weekday-afternoon programming block, Toonami, where the series received much more popularity. on Septemin first-run syndication, but also struggled to find a substantial audience during its run and was ultimately cancelled after two seasons. This dub of Dragon Ball Z was heavily edited for content, as well as length reducing the first 67 episodes into 53. They collaborated with Saban Entertainment to finance and distribute the series to television, sub-licensed home video distribution to Pioneer Entertainment (later known as Geneon Universal Entertainment), contracted Ocean Productions to dub the anime into English, and hired Shuki Levy to compose an alternate musical score. įollowing their short-lived dub of Dragon Ball in 1995, Funimation began production on an English-language release of Dragon Ball Z. Picking up where the first left off, Dragon Ball Z is adapted from the final twenty-six volumes of the manga series on Weekly Shounen Jump from 1988–1995, it premiered in Japan on Fuji Television on April 26, 1989, taking over its predecessor's time slot, and ran for 291 episodes until its conclusion on January 31, 1996. But no, had to steal from James Horner, Danny Elfman, a Captain Tsubasa SFC game, and that's not even getting into Battle Point Unlimited from the original DBZ.With the ending of Dragon Ball, Toei Animation quickly released a second anime series, Dragon Ball Z (ドラゴンボールZ(ゼット) Doragon Bōru Zetto ?, commonly abbreviated as DBZ). It's a shame Yamamoto was a plagiarist because those tracks were really really good. Though I feel it works better with the original DBZ than with DBZ Kai, where it was so sloppily put together because they had to rush it after Yamamoto got caught stealing. It has misfires, but it also has a lot of great stuff. Is Kikuchi's soundtrack perfect? Hell no. That and they'll never work with Faulconer again after he tried to sue them (and he lost). I'm glad Funimation has moved past replacing the entire soundtrack, leaving things as intended. Sure there are some decent tracks, but they lose merit when you learn that Faulconer didn't compose them, he took credit and it wasn't until years later we learned the real composers. The mood is always wrong, and it keeps blaring during quieter moments. I cringe every time I see a clip with the Faulconer soundtrack. Let's not forget the vocal themes composed by takeshi ike in dragon ball The only track of faulconner that i find decent is the vegeta's theme (the one with the piano)Īnyway, here's one of kikuchi's track that people often forget, it fits perfectly when piccolo sacrifice himself : i just can't like this butt rock that faulconner do.Īs for kai/super soundtrack, i'm not a big fan either, there's some good one here and there but i mostly didn't liked it, still better than faulconner though. and it's not even the best anime soundtrack of that time, i'm just comparing the two. I grew up with the kikuchi one, and like everyone else, regardless of what you grew up with, i'm tied to nostalgia, so i don't judge other people tastes, it's all subjective in the end.īut as an adult i see everything with a different eye now, a lot of things i liked as a kid i find it bad now.Īs for faulconner vs kikuchi, there's absolutely no doubt, kikuchi destroys it IMO. Faulconner always sounded like trash to me
